STEM TOURS

Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics

Latitude Group Travel custom designs STEM tours to link to the Sciences, Technology/ICT, Engineering and Mathematics curricula. Our expertise enables us to develop or identify specific, curriculum-linked, experiential learning activities to engage your students in active learning.

ALMOST ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

There are endless tour options that we can offer.  We work in consultation with you to carefully craft the ultimate customised tour.  Your tour can be designed around all or one of the STEM subjects or any of the specific sciences. We can design itineraries for any specific elective, subject or topic and combine these with other relevant topics that you may choose

SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY

Safe and secure travel is paramount for us. Between our Managing Director and CEO alone, we have over 35 + years travel experience, in particular in worldwide, educational, student group travel.

COMBINING SUBJECTS ON THE ONE TOUR

Our expertise allows us to organise your tour so that several subject groups can travel together successfully.  Imagine all of your groups concurrently engaged in their own area of interest – workshop, clinic, experiment, simulation, Q & A session, class or themed guided tour (and more).  Combine your IB students with your mainstream curriculum and we will ensure relevant activities for both groups.  Later, enjoy sightseeing and a range of other experiences together, so the groups feel as one.  Considering a tour in this way will assist with economies of scale and helps meet your minimum participant number requirement.

Unconditional support every step of the way

At Latitude Group Travel, we’re here to make your travel experience enjoyable and stress free. We simplify the group travel process for you by taking care of all the details, leaving nothing to chance. From the moment you start planning your trip, we are with you every step of the way. Your experience is delivered in one seamless process and all the planning, preparation, logistics and hard work is done for you. With our knowledgeable tour directors by your side and our whole team behind you, you will have an extraordinary, safe, easy and rewarding travel experience – without any of the hassle!

SUBJECT ACTIVITIES FOR STEM TOURS

Our itineraries allow your group to take in iconic sights, combined with as many experiments, Q & A sessions with experts in their fields, classes, simulations, workshops, themed guided tours and other curriculum-linked, experiential learning activities as you wish. We ensure that academic and practical endeavours are age and experience appropriate. Our knowledge of the curriculum (state, national and International Baccalaureate, along with any other curriculum you may teach) and our consultative process, ensures that we understand the learning outcomes required.

Example experiential learning activities:

The Sciences

  • Space missions, Kennedy Space Centre, Space Camp plus a physics of flight workshop are just some of the activities available in Space Science and Technology. There are many more activities including the opportunity to dine with an astronaut and space mission simulations!
  • Learn about a potential career as a chemist as you observe chemists working on the development of new radiopharmaceuticals and the analysis of the chemical and physical compositions of materials. You will have the chance to have a Q & A session with them afterwards
  • Discover the biomechanics of rock climbing
  • Delve into the science of mutation and genetic diseases in this hands-on workshop/experiment
  • Learn about the ecology and history of this nationally significant bay by participating in hands-on discovery stations on board an educational vessel. The stations include plankton, marine life, watersheds and ocean acidification
  • Visit iconic locations such as CERN and beyond

Technology/ICT

  • Get up close with nano-sized particles. Compare nano-material to their macro counterparts and learn why nanotechnology has become such an important and unique field of science
  • Use your mathematics, science and engineering know-how to design your very own thrill ride, then hop aboard a 4 D robotic simulator to experience the ride you’ve just created!
  • Bask in the knowledge of tech savvy Fellows from Harvard and MIT, with whom we can organise almost any tech workshop
  • Take a half or full day robotics class

Engineering

  • Take a behind the scenes tour of this major city’s famous landmarks and learn about the engineering required to build them.  This is a once in a lifetime experience to get behind-the-scenes of iconic buildings and bridges
  • In this workshop, students gain a hands on introduction to the life-saving process of water filtration and learn about how civil and environmental engineering contribute to a more sustainable environment
  • Keep your egg passenger alive! Design and build your own model car to produce a weaker crumple zone and stronger passenger cell. Analyse your result using high speed photography and accelerometers

Mathematics

  • Based on the world-renowned Elements of Mathematics curriculum, this is the envy of university-level mathematics courses everywhere. Designed for the most talented secondary school students, Logic for Mathematics is an unparalleled course in pure mathematics
  • Take one of several Knot Theory workshops
  • Develop strategies to master Tic Tac Toe while students encounter the surprises delivered by geometry and topology
  • Students learn to write computer programs and then apply their skills in the Virtual Robotics Lab. They’ll use wheels, gears and sensors to design, build and program their own virtual robots!

See our new STEM programs delivered in Australia –

Mission Discovery – We are bringing a NASA Astronaut to you for a 5 day STEM program. Students spend 5 days  working on science experiments with the winning experiment being carried out on board the International Space Station!

Real World Design Thinking Challenge – 5 day program delivered at a university, where students will learn the 5 step Stanford d.school and IDEO Design Thinking methodology through finding a solution to a real-world problem they have identified in their communities.

OPEN THEIR EYES TO A WORLD OF POSSIBILITY

We’re committed to helping teachers and their students bring the Sciences, Technology/ICT, Engineering and Mathematics to life, by creating memorable and unique experiences.

Remember if your school is not located in Australia, we can still design your tour based around the curriculum you teach!
